Cathedra is a work commissioned by the San José Museum of Art for exhibition June - December, 1999. The piece consists of two sets of digital prints that comprise live size images of a redwood forest environment. Seventy-two of the prints are designed to be inserted in each pane of a two story tall bank of windows that divides the Museum bobby from an outdoor sculpture court. Another image, also a redwood forest, is made up of eight prints that are installed in a second bank of windows around a corner from the first. The images are printed on a translucent medium, allowing them to be backlit by the sunlight that normally passes through the windows. |
