The text: Visualize Miracles in the New Year. Three faces seen in handmade tortilla, Oakland, California, January 1, 2002.
In the summer of 2001 Marisha did an apprenticeship at La Mexicana, a restaurant in East Oakland which makes the most incredible handmade tortillas. They are hefty, but cake-like, rich-tasting, yet contain no oil at all. She learned to make many dishes, but not the tortillas. Its a dying art. The middle of the card listed hundreds of miracles we might wish for. The back of the card featured an SUV in a red circle with a red slash through it, the international symbol for Not Allowed.
