The printed portion of Richard Shaw’s Moonlight series is a collagraph constructed and pulled at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA on a Griffin etching press. The printed element of the image was created by the artist by applying modeling to masonite; sealed and printed “a la poupee.” The ceramic ship is porcelain with ceramic decals; it was cast, constructed, glazed and over-glazed, then fired in the artist’s studio in Fairfax, CA.
