Richard Shaw’s Fairytales was pulled at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA on a flatbed transfer press. Each of the 8 runs was drawn separately by the artist on translucent mylar. The drawings were transferred to plates via contact printing. The prints were pulled individually, one color at a time. After a proofing session in 1997 where various color changes were tried, the artist selected a “right to print” which was used as the standard for the edition. During the editioning of the print in 2001, the artist continued to make changes and refinements and added more runs to the print.
