Still Life with Orchids II was printed at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA on a flatbed transfer press. Each of the 11 runs was drawn separately by Guy Diehl on translucent mylar. The drawings were transferred to plates via contact exposure. The prints were pulled individually, one color run (or rainbow) at a time. After a proofing session of the first nine runs, where various color changes were tried, the artist selected a right to print which was used as the standard for the edition. The artist continued to make changes and refinements and added more runs to the print during the editioning. Two rainbow rolls were employed to produce subtle color shifts in the background gradation.
