John Register
Wasteland Hotel, 1990
etching with aquatint
6 x 6 in.

Wasteland Hotel was pulled at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA on a Griffin etching press. First, the plate was incised by the artist. The prints were then individually pulled by hand by Valentin Popov, a printer visiting from the Soviet Union. The artist drew into a hard ground and stopped out the image for aquatint, which was etched in ferric chloride. Finally, the prints were hand-colored with watercolor by Catherine Register. The numbered edition prints are included in the loose leaf folio of a book about John Register by Barnaby Conrad III.
