Melancolia- Queen of Rose, 1997
etching with chine colle
18 x 24 in. (paper: 22 x 30 in.)

Melancolia – Queen of Rose was printed at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA. The half-toned gate (decorations of a door) image was transferred onto a pre-sensitized copper plate and then it was deep etched in ferric chloride. Like the first plate, a half-toned telephone image was made from a photo-etching process on the second plate. With the hard ground line etching, the artist put tattooed images on the telephone. A spit bite was done in the background. The image of Queen of Rose was drawn on a hard ground small copper plate and etched in dutch-mordant. Rice paper painted by hand with watercolor was printed with the first plate.
